Scholar House Communities are faith based group home facilities catering to those who wish to live in a substance free environment. All residents are required to abstain from alcohol and/or drugs as a condition of living in our communities.
Housing is provided for men and women at separate locations who are 18 or older desiring to live in a stable recovery environment.
Whether one is new to recovery, or has a history of sobriety, there is a continuing need for support and encouragement. Our homes give the needed support and assist in a gradual transition to a happier, healthier lifestyle, with the realization that it is possible to live and thrive in the community at large. We provide the opportunity to become the men and women they have always wanted to be, living with direction and purpose.
Our homes are available at affordable, competitive rates.
We believe that becoming clean and sober is just the beginning. Recovery is a journey that requires a level of involvement but there is more to it. True recovery cannot be achieved without faith.
- We believe that 12 step programs were designed to guide and assist the addict and alcoholic on a journey along a path to a new way of life.
- We also believe that God guides and directs His children along this path. His plans for your new life are explained in great detail in the Bible.
- We believe the Bible teaches men and women how to live clean and sober lives.
Here, addicted men and women find what they have been searching for all their lives. The emptiness felt deep within can only be filled by the One that created us. The artificial pleasures this world offers through drugs and alcohol bring only moments of satisfaction, closely followed by pain and suffering. A new life will ensure a positive, peaceful, stable, and productive future.
Scholar House Sober Communities operate very similar to most other sober living homes, but we are truly different. We provide a structured environment requiring that men and women:
- Are clean and sober from drugs and alcohol. We test continually!
- Have a sincere willingness to remain clean and sober.
- Work a Twelve Step Program.
- Have or get a Sponsor, one who works a program with his or her own sponsor.
- Adhere to the House Rules. Structure and accountability helps change lives.
- Attend Twelve Step discussion meetings, and Twelve Step speaker meetings.
- Attend a minimum 90 meetings in the first 90 days, then regularly attend a minimum of three Twelve Step meetings ( AA, NA, CA, or similar ) per week as determined by your personal counselors.
- Have a legal source of income within 3 weeks. Men and women must learn to be self supporting through their own contributions. We give direction.
The residents of Scholar House live together as a family of disabled people dealing with their addictions. In very practical ways they live just as any family. The other residents in the home will encourage your success and hold you accountable for your sobriety. Every person here desires to be with others they can trust and know that all people living at and visiting the house are sober.
Supportive services such as job referral assistance, court-liaison and representation, linkage with county and state welfare, and rehabilitation agencies are provided. Our homes are conveniently located within walking distance to 12-Step meetings, public transportation and shopping.
